After my futile attempts to buy a cheap battery holder (batteryspace is cool but expensixe S&H) for 18650 batteries, I came up with the idea of creating one from scratch using the cheapest possible off-the-shelf elements.
No moulding, no screws, no 3d modelling, no mad skillz - just old school materials and tools :)
Let me show you how to make four-compartment 18650 battery holder the easy way!
What you need is:
-
Two-sided PCB copper clad (thick!)
-
Soldering iron or soldering gun
-
Solder wire
-
Small teeth saw
-
Battery terminals (metal strips or springs will do the job)
-
Optionally an aerosol paint of your choice :)

Spoiler: how the holder looks when finished

Quick comparison: 8-compartment AA battery holder and two 4-compartment AA battery holders, plus 18650 battery protective case.

The idea was to cut each pcb slice halfway but...

Small square chips from one-sided pcb will be used as isolation pads and base for battery terminals.
